Example of art direction. For a Los Angeles Times story about retired older adults hitting the open road, I thought of using artist Grant Wood’s iconic 1930 painting “American Gothic” as a jumping-off point. I collaborated with San Francisco-based illustrator Barbara Pollack, who brought her incredible talent to the idea. This was the result.
